Multi-Factor Authentication (MFA)

What Is Multi-Factor Authentication (MFA)?

Multi-Factor Authentication (MFA) is an authentication method that requires more than one form of identification in order to validate a user. These forms typically consist of something you know (password), something you have (mobile phone or security token), and/or biometrics (e.g. fingerprints). MFA was created to make it more difficult for attackers to gain entry to accounts or systems by providing an extra layer of protection; adding MFA can effectively protect accounts even when passwords have been stolen or guessed correctly by effectively protecting accounts even while passwords alone may have failed - by effectively protecting accounts using MFA users can secure accounts even in such an instance!
